PopMeC was born at the end of 2019 as a research collective, in a struggle to challenge the stale and uninspiring sides of academia. It was born from a crazy idea and a few people who believed in it.
As an association, we welcome researchers at any level of experience interested in investigating the articulation of the numerous and heterogeneous representations which have been constructing images of the US. Our work is focused on how the US—their history, society, and diverse cultures—have been represented in popular media and cultural products.
The association main publishing outlet has been the peer-reviewed PopMeC Research Blog (ISSN: 2660-8839).
